How to install Keon Wallet on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Android
Keon runs as a browser extension on Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, and as a native Android app. The download links live on the Keon website.
Chrome and Brave
- Open the Keon website and click the Chrome download button.
- If you grabbed a
.zip, extract it somewhere you will not delete by accident. - Visit
chrome://extensionsin your browser. - Turn on Developer mode in the top right.
- Click Load unpacked and pick the extracted folder.
Pin the Keon icon to your toolbar so you can open it with one click.
Firefox
- Download the Firefox build from the website.
- Open
about:debuggingin Firefox. - Click This Firefox in the sidebar.
- Click Load Temporary Add-on and pick the
manifest.jsonfrom the extracted folder.
Heads up: Firefox temporary add-ons disappear when you close the browser. The signed Add-on Store version is the long-term answer.
Safari
Safari needs an extra step because of how Apple ships extensions. The download includes an Xcode project that wraps the extension into a Safari App Extension. Open the project in Xcode, run it once, and Keon will show up in Safari's extension settings.
Android
- Download the latest APK from the website (or grab it from the Play Store if you are reading this after launch).
- Allow installs from unknown sources if your device asks.
- Open the APK and follow the prompts.
The Android app gives you the same wallet, plus an in-app browser for opening dApps. Connections happen through WalletConnect under the hood, so the dApp does not need to know it is talking to a mobile app.
First time opening Keon
Whichever platform you pick, the first launch drops you into onboarding. You can:
- Create a new wallet (Keon generates a seed phrase you must write down)
- Import an existing wallet from a seed phrase
- Restore an encrypted backup from Google Drive
After onboarding you land on the dashboard. From here, Wallet Basics is the next step.
